The Model:

The Ferrari 458 Speciale made by HWE is a limited, highly detailed model made in a fine quality,
with a very good finish to it, certainly models of this car made by MR Collection or BBR Models are made with even higher precision, but on this model HWE has a clear and sound quality and incorporated a lot of details. Only these half-open door windows, as they are also found in the other HWE Ferrari 458 models do disturb a bit.

Recent information indicates that the Ferrari 458 Speciale 1/18 is one of the last Ferrari models
from Hot Wheels Elite/Mattel, whose license agreement with Ferrari expired in December 2014 and therefore was lost to the May Cheong Group.
It remains to be seen whether the license successor Bburago can live up to the quality of HWE.

The model of the Ferrari 458 Speciale 1/18 of Bburago has been already announced as follows:
1816903-R Ferrari 458 Speciale 1/18 Signature red - Available soon

This model of the Ferrari 458 Speciale is one of the last Ferrari models from HWE
and a true collector's item with potential.

Model Release Date: December 2014

The History:

On August 20, 2013 Ferrari ahead of the International
Automobile Exhibition in Frankfurt announced in a press release,
that they will present on 12 September 2013, the Ferrari 458 Speciale.

The car is based on Ferrari's 458 Italia, however, is characterized by an
accentuated sporting equipment from. Externally, the front and rear aprons were changed,
on the flanks there are small spoilers in front of the rear wheel arches.

The interior of the vehicle comes without carpets and only carbon and Alcantara
have been incorporated.

While the curb weight was reduced to 1405 kg the engine performance increased
at a displacement of 4.5 liters to 445 kW (605 hp)
This results in a ratio of 99 kW / l.
The lap time on Ferrari's test track in Fiorano is at 1: 23.5 minutes.

The Ferrari 458 Speciale offers a drift angle control.
The Side Slip Angle Control System (SSC) recognizes by evaluating the steering and drift angle
and the accelerator pedal position, whether the driver on curb exit would like to speed out in an oversteering mode and regulates these driving condition despite an activated ESP.
