I am a retired Food Scientist, having worked in both university and industry. My interest in model cars started over fifty years ago with relatively simple diecasts and I am still a passionate collector. The collection is dynamic and has evolved over the years in terms of the quality of the models. Themes have changed and narrowed in line with the availability of models, cabinet space and my own interests. The vast majority of my models are in 1/43 and I do like to build kits and modify.
Having had a relative in North America who sent me copies of Car Craft and Hot Rod magazines when I was at school in the '60s, and witnessing the American tour of drag racers in 1964, I have been a fan of drag racing. Assembling a decent collection of dragsters, hot rods and customs in 43rd scale has been a challenge. The rest of the collection comprises road cars and attempts to trace the development of most British and American marques plus some French marques. I am currently trying to focus on building a backlog of kits and modifications, but there are so many excellent, but expensive, models available to buy.
