This car was developed at the direction of the first and last president of the USSR, Mikhail Sergeevich Gorbachev. A promising limousine was supposed to replace the "obsolete" five-seat sedan ZIL-41041. As a model in 1985, a new Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit was purchased. In 1988, the sixth ZIL shop produced two ZIL-4102 prototypes of black and gold color, the Zilovites themselves nicknamed them "Mishka" and "Raika". It was planned that a whole family of cars would be built on the basis of this model, however, Mikhail Sergeyevich did not like the new development. At the fine tuning of the car there was no money, and the project was rolled up. Despite the fact that Rolls-Royce was taken as a "sample", the exterior and interior design was executed with an eye on American cars. The car is very similar to the 1985 Cadillac Fleetwood Limousine: a low shoulder line, flat headlights and moldings on the sides. When viewed from the side, the shape of the windows resembles the Volvo 760 model of those years. It is no wonder, after all in the Union the Swedish cars were in honor. In comparison with its monumental predecessor ZIL-41041, the new sedan looked "more democratic". Sedan ZIL-4102 was created in the office for the study and fine-tuning of passenger cars ZIL. The fundamental difference between the new model and other Soviet limousines was the absence of a frame. In this connection, the ZIL designers had to do a great job of reducing the vibrations of the load-bearing body. The new sedan was half a meter longer than the "Volga", and weighed half a ton less than ZIL-41041. The roof and floor panels, trunk lid, bonnet and bumpers were made of fiberglass. The car was installed V-shaped 8-cylinder engine ZIL-4104 with a working volume of 7.68 liters capacity of 315 hp. - the same as in other Moscow limousines and automatic transmission. Due to the reduction in weight, the acceleration from the place to 100 km / h became slightly faster - 10.5 seconds. Fuel consumption per 100 km was 18 liters at a speed of 90 km / h and 21 liters at 120 km / h, which is relatively small for such large cars. In 2011, the exhibition "XVII Oldtimer Gallery Ilya Sorokin" dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the GON was held, at which rare and exclusive cars were presented for the first time to the public. Among them was the miraculously preserved ZIL-4102 "Raika". According to unconfirmed rumors, the car is in a private collection of one of the top managers of Lukoil.
