This is GAZ AAA. The model is made in The Soviet Union in scale 1:43. Only the doors open.

History

GAZ-AAA was developed in 1934 with the participation of the famous designer of automotive and armored vehicles V. A. Grachev. From a design point of view, it was a three-axle truck based on GAZ-AA. Initially, it used a 40 hp engine, but in 1936 it was replaced with a more powerful one that developed 50 hp (these engines were installed on American Ford BB trucks).

At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, the design of the car was greatly simplified in order to reduce the cost and labor intensity of production.

GAZ-AAA is the most massive off-road truck in the Soviet engineering industry, from 1934 to 1943 37,373 copies of it were produced. Most of them were used in the Red Army.

Design

When designing the GAZ-AAA, a number of changes were made to the design, for example, a change in the shape of the wing. The main features are the suspension of two rear axles on four longitudinal semi-elliptical springs instead of two balancing ones and a worm final drive for driving axles (both products were developed at the Gorky Automobile Plant). By increasing the number of wheels, which made it possible to reduce the specific pressure on the ground and optimize the transfer of torque from the engine to the ground, the vehicle's patency on forest and country roads has significantly increased. For cross-country ability on soft types of soil and snow, caterpillar chains from the Overall company were installed on the rear wheels.

Advantages

GAZ-AAA could carry 2 tons of cargo along the highway and reach a speed of 65 km / h. At full load, the car could climb up to 27 degrees.

Disadvantages

One of the main drawbacks of the truck was a relatively weak engine, and therefore the GAZ-AAA could not be used as a tractor for divisional artillery and was mainly used to transport troops and cargo.

Modifications

BA-6 - armored car (years of production - 1935-1938, a total of 386 copies were produced).

BA-10 / BA-10M - armored car (years of production - 1938-1941, a total of 3311 copies were produced).

GAZ-05-193 - staff bus (years of production - 1936-1945, a total of 194 to 237 copies were produced).

GAZ-60 - half-track modification (years of production - 1938-1942).

ZSU 61-K (1939) - 37 mm automatic anti-aircraft gun mounted on GAZ-AAA.

PARM-A is a vehicle designed for repair and restoration work.

SU-12 is a self-propelled gun produced from 1933 to 1935. It was equipped with a 76.2 mm cannon, the number of issued copies was 51.

In addition to the above modifications, a number of specialized ones were produced on the basis of GAZ-AAA - fire trucks, truck tractors, radio vans, searchlight anti-aircraft installations PO-15-8, radar detection stations RUS-2 "Redut" and RUS-2s "Pegmatit", automobile anti-aircraft installations with quad machine guns "Maxim", the system of multiple rocket launchers BM-8-48 "Katyusha", etc.
