For many years, the GAZ-3110 Volga has been flaunting on domestic roads. The modern development of cars overshadows the technical characteristics of this model, although even at the present time it is considered the benchmark for the production of domestic units. The Volga models that were produced earlier did not have enough comfortable conditions when compared with today's requirements. However, the owners of this model at that time were considered self-sufficient people. Most often, this car was used by people who held key positions at the top of the state. Such popularity of the GAZ-3110 among the country's leadership speaks volumes.
The nineties for the "Volga", as well as most of the inhabitants of the country, became very difficult. To maintain mass production, it was necessary to cross some models in order to introduce new ones into mass production. The country's leadership artificially reduced circulation for the production of cars, in connection with this, in 1992, for the second time, they crossed the serial model with the GAZ-3102, resulting in the GAZ-31029. The demand for this car was enormous. Even with the factory at full capacity and working in three shifts, this car was difficult to buy, as the queue for it lasted for many months. Despite the economic and political difficulties of the nineties, the popularity of the Volga was at the highest level.
In the early nineties, the domestic market gave way to Mercedes and BMW. However, even this did not prevent Volga-31029 from taking a clear position in the Russian automotive market and economy. It was planned to release a modern car GAZ-3103 with a new interior and body. But while the old Volga model was still well bought, it was decided to carry out its next modernization. Actually, this is how the new GAZ-3110 model appeared. In the winter of 1997, this car was presented to the public at the MMAS-95 exhibition. Serial production began on the 65th anniversary of the Gorky Automobile Plant.
GAZ-3110 "Volga" belongs to the automobile class "C" and is a sedan with four doors. The bodywork is frameless. The body itself is oversized. This is clearly displayed in numbers: length-4870 mm, width-1800 mm, height-1420 mm. Sufficiently high ground clearance (156 mm) allows you to perfectly overcome domestic roads. Depending on the modification, a fuel tank of 55 or 70 liters was installed.
The driver's seat, steering wheel, panel and instrument panel of the car GAZ-3110 "Volga" Fabric was used to upholster the seats. The panel and casing are made of simple plastic. The basic configuration of the Volga is equipped with an audio system. For better aerodynamics, the hood and trunk lids are rounded. After restyling, the bumper has increased significantly in size. The trunk is designed for a volume of 500 liters.
R15 discs were installed on this model instead of the “fourteenth” rims, as well as disc brakes on the front wheels. Suspension: the front axle has springs, and the rear axle has springs. A hydraulic booster was installed on the steering gearbox.
Thanks to powerful power units, the car accelerates to 100 km / h in 11 seconds. A diesel engine was rarely installed on the GAZ-3110, with a power of 95 horsepower and a volume of 2.1 liters. There were three types of engines:
ZMZ-402 - equipped with a carburetor;
ZMZ-406 - injector installed;
GAZ-560 - diesel.
In addition to the engine, the gearbox was also of different types: four-speed and five-speed. The four-stage was installed complete with a 3M3-402 engine. In the 2000s, it was no longer installed, which made it possible to release the GAZ-31105 with a five-step in 2005.
In addition to the basic model GAZ-3110, a fairly large number of modifications were produced, on the roads of the country you can find taxi cars of the version of the GAZ-310221 station wagon. This model is visually distinguished from the GAZ-3110 by a rear-mounted plastic bumper. You can also highlight the GAZ-310223 model - a light ambulance. Not many cars were produced with a diesel engine, about 200 units a year. These engines were installed on the GAZ-3110-600 and GAZ-3110-601.
Summing up, this car requires careful maintenance, but it does not fail on the road.
