The ZIS 5B has a payload of 3 tons. and the top speed is 60 km / h. In general, ZIS-5 is the second in the mass (after GAZ-AA) truck from 1930 to 40, one of the most important means of transport for the Red Army during World War II. At the beginning of 1943, on a ZIS-5, a 124 kg cabin was made of plywood and wood. During the Second World War 84,100 units were produced. The ZIS-5 was the further development of a 2.5 ton truck AMO-3 (1931-1933), a localized version of the AMO-2 model (1930-1931), actually a truck from Autocar Dispatch SA assembled to the American Autocar units that are again collected from aggregates of various well-known American producers for sale on South America markets. Unlike AMO-2, all the details of AMO-3 and ZIS-5 were Soviet. In 1934, 100 pcs. ZIS-5 was sold to Turkey. In the future, ZIS-14 with extended wheelbase and the same features as the ZIS-5 and ZIS-8 bus were also exported. In the 1930s, ZIS trucks and buses were exported to Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Spain, China, Latvia, Lithuania, Mongolia, Romania, Turkey and Estonia. A large fleet of ZIS cars was formed in Finland after the Soviet-Finnish war and even more in the territories of the Soviet Union occupied by Germany in 1941-1944.
In the postwar period, the production of this truck was transferred to the Ural Automobile Plant in Miass, where the modified version was produced under the trade mark UralZIS-355B, produced before 1963.
