Hot Wheels 1/64-scale Porsche 935 model
The vehicle in the photos from Modelly member “Fred” is clearly based on the modern Porsche 935. The real car was introduced in 2018 and was designed as a pure track-day machine for use on permanent race circuits. Its technical base was the Porsche 911 GT2 RS from the 991 generation, which was built from 2011; specifically, the race car used components from the updated 991.2 version. The modern Porsche 935 was limited to 77 units, had no road registration, and visually echoed the historic turbo race cars from the 1970s. The long-tail silhouette, the widened fenders, the huge rear wing, and the low front end are all features that are also reproduced on the miniature. Fred’s example is a model car in 1/64 scale, made by Hot Wheels. The body is made from die-cast material, while add-on parts, glazing, chassis, and wheels can be made from plastic or metal.
Clearly modified: not a standard Hot Wheels release
Important for collectors: this model is a modified miniature and is not the original Hot Wheels production version. You can especially see different multi-spoke wheels with a silver finish, a lower ride height, extra or changed graphics, and a modified front end. The grille looks more three-dimensional than on a typical simplified 1/64 model and has a light mesh pattern. The black headlight inserts, the round lamp details, and the black front splitter also shape the look. The paint is mostly red-orange. On the hood there is a white start-number panel with black number 43, a small Porsche crest, white Brembo logos, and a large Coca-Cola wordmark. Along the sides, another number circle, a white wave stripe, and the logos of Coca-Cola, Goodyear, and Brembo continue the race-car theme. The yellow-and-red sticker on the rear wing resembles Shell. The mix of the orange base color, black side skirts and front sections, and silver wheels makes the details and body lines easy to pick out in the photos.
Tech specs of the modern Porsche 935 based on the 911 GT2 RS
The Porsche 935 from 2018 had a 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine with 515 kW, or 700 hp. Peak torque was 750 Nm. Power went through a seven-speed PDK with fixed gear ratios and an electronically controlled rear differential lock. Unlike the road-going GT2 RS, the Porsche 935 was set up as a single-seater with a welded-in roll cage, racing seat, six-point harness, fire suppression system, and a motorsport steering wheel with a display. It weighed around 1,380 kilograms (3,042.4 pounds) in empty condition. Its track gear included a body made from carbon-fiber reinforced plastic, large brakes, center-lock wheels, and an underbody designed for high downforce. Its stylistic predecessor is considered to be the Porsche 935/78 “Moby Dick,” while the overall lineage was based on the Porsche 911 Turbo. The technical development of the historic 935 race cars is closely linked to Porsche engineer Norbert Singer; the design of the original 911 goes back to Ferdinand Alexander Porsche. The new Porsche 935 was developed under the motorsport leadership of Frank-Steffen Walliser.

The historic versions of the Porsche 935 scored results between 1976 and 1981 in FIA Group 5, the Deutsche Rennsport-Meisterschaft, the World Championship for Makes, and North American endurance series. The works car won the World Championship for Makes in 1976 and 1977. Customer teams like Kremer Racing, Joest Racing, and JLP Racing developed and raced further versions. At the 1979 24 Hours of Le Mans, a Porsche 935 K3 from Kremer Racing won the overall race. This car was a customer-built development and not the same thing as the later track-day model introduced in 2018. The success of the line came from the turbocharged flat-six engine, improved aerodynamics, and how versatile it was across sprint and endurance racing.
Drivers, racing connection, and visible miniature details
Well-known drivers of variants of the historic Porsche 935 include Jacky Ickx, Jochen Mass, Rolf Stommelen, Bob Wollek, John Fitzpatrick, and Klaus Ludwig. Klaus Ludwig, Don Whittington, and Bill Whittington made up the driver lineup for the Kremer 935 K3 that won Le Mans in 1979. The modern Porsche 935, on the other hand, was not built as a homologated championship car, so it doesn’t have a comparable official racing record; it was made for private track use. Fred’s miniature captures the motorsport vibe with the big rear wing, widened body, side intakes, and sponsor decals. From the angles shown, the neatly separated black front bumper, the grille’s mesh structure, the contrasting headlight areas, and the wheel design really stand out. The model car in 1/64 scale, made by Hot Wheels, shows a customized take on the Porsche 935 rather than a factory-standard version.
