The prototype for this miniature is the BMW 535i from the sixth 5 Series generation, the F10, which was built from 2010 to 2017. This sedan replaced the BMW 5 Series E60 and, compared with its predecessor, had a cleaner body design, a broader-looking stance, and a more driver-focused interior layout. The BMW 535i sat above the 528i among the gasoline models and was offered with an inline six-cylinder turbo engine. The 3.0-liter engine from the N55 family delivered 306 hp or 225 kW depending on the market and model year, and put out 400 Nm of torque. With the eight-speed automatic, the BMW 535i could accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in about 5.7 seconds; top speed was electronically limited to 250 km/h (155.3 mph). Alternatives included a manual six-speed transmission, rear-wheel drive, or, in certain markets, the xDrive all-wheel-drive system.
The technical basis of the BMW 535i was a body shell with a high proportion of high-strength steel and aluminum parts, including front-end components and parts of the suspension. Up front it used a double-wishbone front axle, and at the rear an integral axle. Optional features included Dynamic Drive with active roll stabilization, Integral Active Steering with rear-wheel steering, and adaptive dampers. With Integral Active Steering, the rear wheels turned opposite to the front wheels at low speeds, which reduced the turning circle; at higher speeds they turned in the same direction and helped improve stability. Other available systems for the BMW 535i included a head-up display, night vision assist, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control with braking function, and a rearview camera. The F10 sedan measured about 4.90 meters (16.1 feet) in length and had a wheelbase of 2.97 meters (9.7 feet). The trunk held 520 liters (18.4 cubic feet). In the photos, you can see the four-door sedan shape, whose long hood, short overhangs, and side window line reflect the basic layout of the series.
Shown here is a model car in 1/43 scale, made by Welly, from the collection of Modelly member “GaborsPoliceGarage143”. The model represents a BMW 535i in a Bavarian police version. The miniature is made from mixed materials: the body and main structural parts are usually metal, while the glazing, lights, interior, wheels, add-on parts, and light bar are made of plastic. That matches the typical combination of die-cast metal and plastic parts used for model cars of this size. The silver body has large turquoise-green areas on the hood, doors, rear side sections, and trunk. Tiny reflective-looking markings run along the color boundaries. The word “POLIZEI” appears on both sides, on the hood, and at the rear. The police star emblem with a blue shield is placed on the front doors. So the design follows the blue-green or silver-green Bavarian police livery used since the 2000s.
This 1/43 scale model car by Welly shows the BMW 535i from several angles on a diorama. You can see a blue transparent roof light bar with light-colored center and mounting elements, black window frames, a dark interior, and silver multi-spoke wheels with black tires. The front view shows BMW’s signature twin kidney grille, shaped headlight inserts, and a front license plate; at the rear, there are red transparent taillights, a modeled bumper, and the license plate “M-PM 6420”. Door handles, side mirrors, the fuel door, and the lines of the doors, hood, and trunk lid are all clearly defined. The shape of the model feels nicely detailed thanks to the combination of the silver roof and rocker panel area with the turquoise-green livery sections. In the outdoor photos, the miniature sits on a gray textured road in front of a green background. The third photo shows it in front of a garage scene with a brick wall, workshop door, and signage. That makes it easy to see the proportions, lettering, and police equipment of this collectible model from different angles.
