At Marcello’s, there is a 1/18 scale model car from AUTOart showing the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody. The real car belongs to the third Challenger generation, the LC series, which was built from 2008 to 2023. Its body shape echoes the early-1970s Challenger models with a long hood, short rear end, and two-door coupe layout. The predecessor of the LC generation was the second-generation Challenger, sold from 1978 to 1983, which was technically related to the Mitsubishi Galant Lambda. The modern Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody, on the other hand, uses the Chrysler LX platform as its technical base. The basic design of the 2008 Challenger is credited to designer Michael Castiglione; the styling carried over major cues from the 2006 concept study. The wider Widebody version hit the market for the 2018 model year. Compared with narrower Challenger versions, it stands out thanks to bolt-on fender flares, a wider track, and specific wheels. The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody from the 2018 model year was powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8. A mechanical IHI supercharger with twin-screw rotors forces air into the engine; output is 707 hp according to SAE standards, which is about 717 PS, along with 881 Nm of torque. Power is sent through an eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic from ZF; a six-speed manual was also available on certain Hellcat versions. The suspension includes adaptive Bilstein dampers with several drive modes, electric power steering, and launch control. These technical differences explain the broad proportions that the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody model clearly shows compared with a regular Challenger.
Go Mango paint, stripes, and visible details in 1/18
Marcello’s miniature is painted in a metallic orange shade that’s based on Dodge’s Go Mango color. Depending on the light, the finish looks coppery to orange-gold; fine metallic flakes are especially visible on the roof, fenders, and hood. The window frames, side mirrors, door handles, and black front grille are all finished in separate colors too. Through the glass, you can make out the seats, dashboard, steering wheel, and center console.
