Between 1957 and 1959, the BMW 600 was produced. In the vernacular this type was also called "the big Isetta". It was the same idea and most parts came from the Isetta. In contrast, the Type 600 had a side door on the right side and the wheelbase was longer.
BMW wanted to offer a sedan "for the whole family" with the type 600 and expected a great success. The model was also well received and got even in the US good judgments. It turned out, however, that the whole concept did not live up to expectations. One reason was probably that the 600th Although provided space for 4 people, but virtually no luggage could be carried. The price was also almost the same as that of the VW beetle, which in contrast could transport 4 people including luggage.
After 2 years of construction and about 34,000 copies, the production of the 600 was discontinued.
The successor type, BMW 700, was a great success and rescued BMW from the crisis.

Engine:
2 cylinder rear engine with 585cc displacement and a power of 19.5 hp. He comes, as well as the engine of the "Isetta", from the motorcycle area.
Top speed 100 km / h.

The model:
Very nicely implemented by the company AUTOart. Numerous details, fine door hinges, a functioning locking mechanism on the front door, prototypical steering when opening, floor mats in the interior and a filigree converted engine characterize the model.

specifically:
This model also comes from the collection of our unfortunately deceased forum member Wolfram. As a special greeting, the last photo is in black and white.
