For a planned record ride in the autumn of 1967 a team around the well-known racer Jo Siffert set on a (private) Porsche 906E. During 4 days and a distance of 20'000 kilometers numerous records should be broken.
Unfortunately not everything went as planned and one had to switch to a (also private) Porsche 911R.
Finally, with both vehicles, many records were actually achieved, resp. to get broken.

Engine of the 906E:
2.0 liters displacement, 6 cylinders, 170 resp. 210 hp (racing version)

The model:
Very nicely implemented by Minichamps. A perfect paint finish and a lot of nice details make the limited model special.

amusing:
For the unfortunately failed Porsche 906E (reason was the third in succession broken shock absorbers, for which no spare part was in stock) a 911R was used. To this end for a mechanic the car from Stuttgart to Monza. Another 911 was designed as a "spare parts dispenser" and should also be brought to Monza. This car, however, was not allowed to drive to Switzerland because it was too loud ..... So the car drove almost around Switzerland, to France and from there to Italy.
The identical car that drove over Austria and the Brenner Pass to Italy had no problems at all. The Italian border guards said to the sound of the 911 only "che bella maccina" and let the car through ........
