About the Wartburg 353 (1975-1988)

The Wartburg 353, an East German car, was produced from 1975-1988. It was developed by engineers from VEB Automobilwerk Eisenach, including Gunter Kunert and Herbert Schwabe. The Wartburg 353 was available as a sedan and estate and was one of the most commonly used vehicles in the GDR. The car was known for its reliability and relative ease of maintenance. The Wartburg 353 was powered by a three-cylinder two-stroke engine with 992 cc (60.4 cubic inches) displacement, producing 50 horsepower.
