Fiat 595/695 SS Abarth: A Classic of Automotive History

The Fiat 595/695 SS Abarth is a classic from the first generation (1963-1971) of the popular Fiat small car series. This model was developed under the guidance of the renowned engineer Carlo Abarth, known for his high-performance racing car modifications. The base of the model is the Fiat 500, which was already successful as a predecessor. The main modifications concerned the engine and the body, giving the car a significantly sportier touch.

Originally, the Fiat 595 SS Abarth had a 595cc engine, which was boosted to up to 34 hp (25 kW) through various tuning measures. In the evolved variant, the 695 SS Abarth, the engine was increased to 695cc and reached a power output of up to 38 hp (28 kW). With these modifications, the vehicle could achieve speeds of over 130 km/h (81 mph) - remarkable for a small car of that time. The body was also reinforced and aerodynamically improved. The lightweight chassis also contributed to the remarkable performance.

Successes in Motorsport

The Fiat 695 SS Abarth achieved remarkable successes in various motorsport disciplines, especially in touring car racing. Drivers like Giovanni Rizzo and Arturo Merzario frequently placed the vehicle on the winner's podium. The combination of low weight, high engine power, and excellent maneuverability made the car a favorite on twisty tracks and hill climbs. Often present at international races in the 60s in various categories, the vehicle could outperform significantly larger and more powerful competitors.

Another well-known driver of this model was Ernesto Brambilla, who won the Italian championship in his class multiple times with the Fiat 695 SS Abarth. These successes cemented the car's reputation as a serious contender in motorsport. Countless victories and a loyal fan base contributed to the Fiat 695 SS Abarth still being recognized as a legendary racing car today.

Sponsor decals from Goodyear, Ferodo, and Fiat Team adorn the sides, adding to the authentic racing car appearance. The wide wheel arches and detailed rims make the model look very realistic. The open engine bay and finely crafted ventilation slits at the rear are real eye-catchers as well.

Modified Features and Painterly Details

The interior and ventilation elements have also been refined. The scale model features racing seats, a roll cage, and an extensive dashboard, making the original Fiat 695 SS Abarth appear even more authentic. This scale model is not just a collector's item, but also an excellent example of the craftsmanship involved in making automotive miniatures.
