BMW M4 GT4 G82 as a Nürburgring model in 1/18

The prototype of this miniature is the BMW M4 GT4 (G82), a customer racing car developed for international motorsport based on the production M4 from the G82 model series. This generation has been built since 2020; the GT4 racing version was introduced for the 2023 season. Its predecessor was the BMW M4 GT4 based on the F82, which had been in use since 2018. The vehicle shown here carries start number 145 and refers to the class win in the SP8T category at the 2024 Nürburgring 24 Hours. In the Modelly collection of member “neophyte1410”, it is documented as a racing miniature. It is a model car in 1/18 scale, made by Otto Models. The build is based on diecast material and follows the closed-body design commonly used for collector models of this kind.

Technical basis of the BMW M4 GT4 G82

The BMW M4 GT4 (G82) uses a 3.0-liter inline-six engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology. The engine is structurally based on the S58 found in the production cars, but power and torque in GT4 racing are controlled by Balance of Performance regulations. Depending on the BoP setup, output can reach up to around 550 hp. Power is sent through a seven-speed automatic transmission with motorsport tuning. Other racing hardware includes a welded safety cage, an FIA fuel tank, racing ABS, traction control, adjustable dampers, and a pneumatic quick-lift system. Aerodynamic parts like the front splitter, diffuser, and rear wing increase downforce. The design of the G82 base was led by Domagoj Dukec; the development of the customer racing car took place at BMW M Motorsport, including work in the environment of Björn Lellmann. The model clearly reproduces the wide bodywork, the pronounced BMW kidney grille, and the tall rear wing of the race car.

Motorsport results and well-known BMW M4 GT4 drivers

The BMW M4 GT4 (G82) is used worldwide in GT4 racing series, endurance championships, and brand-specific events. These include the Nürburgring Endurance Series, the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the GT4 European Series, the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, and various SRO racing series. The SP8T class at the Nürburgring is intended for turbocharged cars and places special demands on brakes, suspension, cooling, and reliability on the Nordschleife. The model’s link to the 2024 class win places start number 145 in this endurance-racing context. The visible decals point to Cerny Motorsport, while the front and side sections support the identification of the race car that was used.

BMW M4 GT4 in international GT4 customer racing

Outside the Nürburgring Nordschleife too, the BMW M4 GT4 (G82) has scored class wins, podiums, and championship results in customer racing. Using multiple teams and drivers is a core part of the GT4 category, since the cars are adapted to different tracks and BoP requirements on the same technical foundation. Well-known drivers who have raced BMW M4 GT4 cars in competition include Max Hesse, Dan Harper, Jens Klingmann, and Valentino Rossi. The success of the model line is not based on engine power alone, but also on racing ABS, electronic driving aids, spare-parts support, and a design meant for endurance racing. The BMW M4 GT4 (G82) continues the concept of its F82 predecessor, but uses a newer vehicle platform and a more advanced electronics architecture.

Livery, decals, and Otto Models miniature execution

The miniature has a black base color with white, red, and green graphic areas. White panels run across the hood and front fenders, with clearly defined black shapes and red outline lines. Green appears on the side mirrors, the front splitter, and as an accent on the side skirts and rear wing. Visible decals include sponsors such as H&R, Ravenol, KW, Falken, Goodyear, and Gullwing. The “Beutel-with-Care” lettering on the hood and the BMW Motorsport markings on the front are also present. Black multi-spoke wheels, tires with yellow sidewall lettering, dark light inserts, and red-accented air intakes define the look. The model body visible in the photos shows clean proportions, a low front splitter, and the typical race-car appearance of the real car. This model car in 1/18 scale by Otto Models is a limited edition: 1 of 999 pieces worldwide.
