AC Schnitzer ACS2 Police: Prototype Based on the BMW 2 Series Coupé
This collectible shown here from Modelly member “Phat-T” is based on the BMW 2 Series Coupé in its AC Schnitzer converted police-car version, called “ACS2 Polizei.” The technical base is most likely the F22, built from 2013 to 2021. Its predecessor was the 1 Series Coupé, generation E82. The 2 Series was developed at BMW under the responsibility of the brand’s design team at the time; one of the key chief designers for BMW during that period was Karim Habib. AC Schnitzer is based in Aachen, Germany, and was founded in 1987. The company has specialized in BMW cars for decades and is well known for aerodynamic parts, suspension solutions, wheel sets, and performance upgrades. The real project vehicle “Tune it! Safe!” is a show car styled like a German police vehicle, based on a tuned BMW coupé and presented as part of a road safety campaign.
Technical Specs and Modifications of the ACS2 Police on BMW Hardware
The prototype is very likely based on the BMW M240i Coupé or a technically similar F22 derivative that was converted by AC Schnitzer into the “ACS2.” In production form, the M240i Coupé came with a 3.0-liter inline-six turbocharged engine from the B58 engine family, rear-wheel drive or optional xDrive, and an 8-speed automatic. Depending on the market, output was around 340 hp and 500 Nm. Typical upgrades from AC Schnitzer include revised engine software, a sport exhaust, lowering springs or a full suspension setup, plus front splitters, side skirts, a rear wing, and updated wheels. Visible here are several AC Schnitzer parts, including the front spoiler, side skirts, rear wing, and the body add-ons at the front and rear. The base plate is labeled “AC Schnitzer ACS2 Polizei,” which further supports the identification. Technically, the F22 is interesting because of its balanced weight distribution, multi-link rear suspension, and compact coupé body, all of which made it a popular base for tuning projects. It’s not possible to identify the wheel manufacturer and exact wheel model with complete certainty from the photos alone, but the design fits the kind of multi-spoke performance wheels usually seen in the AC Schnitzer world.
1/18 Scale Model by GT Spirit: Paintwork, Details, and Model Build
This miniature is a 1/18 scale model made by GT Spirit. It’s a resin collectible, which is typical for many closed models from this maker. What you see is a police livery in blue, silver, and bright yellow. The color split follows the well-known German police design, with blue side sections, silver areas at the front, roof line, and rear, plus yellow warning panels on the hood, sills, and rear side area. The doors carry a big “POLIZEI” marking, plus reflective stripe patterns running around the car. The hood, front bumper, and rear also feature additional markings, along with a blue roof light bar. The photos also show red brake calipers, drilled brake discs, dark-tinted rear side windows, body-colored mirrors, and a rear wing. The tires are marked Hankook, and logos such as Tune it! Safe!, VDAT, and AC Schnitzer are printed on the sidewalls and lower door area. The proportions of the coupé, the low roofline, and the wide track come across really well in this version. The model car in 1/18 scale, made by GT Spirit, recreates the shape of the prototype with clearly visible tuning add-ons and a theme-livery that collectors will appreciate.
Phat-T’s Collectible: Limited GT Spirit Release with a Realistic Police Look
For collectors, the fact that this is a limited edition is especially interesting. The exact production run isn’t readable in the photos, but the “limited edition” note is part of how many GT Spirit resin models are marketed. The close-up shots show that the front end was modeled with extra air intakes, a splitter edge, and a sharply shaped headlight design.
