At the beginning of the 1950s the Alfa Romeo has some of its suppliers for castings and model manufacturers charged with the manufacture and supply of simple pattern models of the victorious ALFETTA 159 racer in 1:8. Several manufacturers made samples from which the plant then chose one and let them produce in a small series. One speaks of 300 pieces.
The produced ALFETTAs were thereafter given away to VIPs, Politicians and went on winning drivers. One piece was presented to Fangio for winning Drivers World Championship in 1951 in an ALFETTA, beautifully painted with garland and dedication (also in my collection). On the occasion of their retirement also deserved workers should have been given a model into retirement. These pieces were (and are) occasionally on the market. It may be only a few. Later slso copies and replicas were built (E.g. by DURANTE in red and Alu polished), and also similar pieces were edited by others.
The model here is one of the patterns, so a single piece. I did not find out which manufacturer made it, until today. It may be MERCURY, which also should have been invited. There are 3 versions (with attached Grill), only different in details (with me). Maybe all of the same manufacturer? Who knows ..............
