Dacia Logan Nürburgring 24h 2023 as a collector’s model: the real car and its context

The miniature shown here from Modelly member “vettelf1champ96” depicts the Dacia Logan race car from the 2023 Nürburgring 24-hour race. The real car is based on the first Logan generation, meaning the 1st generation, which was built from 2004 onward. There wasn’t really a direct predecessor in the classic sense, since the Logan was introduced as a completely new model line for Dacia. It was developed within the Renault-Dacia group, with several international teams involved; one of the key people behind the overall concept was Gérard Detourbet, along with design responsibility inside the Renault group. The Logan was positioned as a compact sedan with simple, robust engineering. Depending on the market and model year, it came with gasoline and diesel engines, including 1.4- and 1.6-liter gasoline units as well as 1.5 dCi diesel engines. Typical features included front-wheel drive, transversely mounted engines, manual gearboxes, and a construction focused on durability and low running costs. The technical basis came from Renault’s parts bin, which gave the model a broad parts network and straightforward maintenance. In motorsport, the body of the Dacia Logan was used several times as a base because it is simple in design and easy to adapt.

Original car tech: platform, construction, and motorsport base of the Dacia Logan

The road-going version used the Renault Group’s B0 platform. At the front, the production car usually had MacPherson struts, while the rear used a torsion-beam axle. Safety and comfort equipment varied depending on the market, but that simple layout is exactly what made the Dacia Logan interesting for privately run endurance projects. On the race car, the body, suspension, brakes, safety cell, fire suppression system, aerodynamics, and electrics were heavily modified. Visible on the miniature are typical signs of a Nürburgring endurance racer: a large rear wing, tow straps front and rear, racing mirrors, number panels, and an interior with a roll cage. The model shown here is a collector’s car in 1/43 scale from SPARK. It is made of resin, which is often used for small-run models because it allows very accurate shape and livery detail. The base plate is labeled “Dacia Logan Nürburgring 24H 2023,” along with the German flag and O. Kriess’s signature. Also clearly visible is the limitation to 126 of 300 pieces worldwide, making this example part of a very small and defined series. For collectors, it’s also worth noting again that this is a model car in 1/43 scale from SPARK.

Motorsport at the Nürburgring: entries, drivers, and achievements of the Dacia Logan

In motorsport, the Dacia Logan is best known for its appearances in Nürburgring endurance racing. Over the years, different Logan race cars were built there, usually aimed less at outright lap records and more at durability, standing out in smaller classes, and getting through the race consistently. That fits the spirit of many 24-hour projects on the Nordschleife: clean stints, careful use of material, and solid team management. The car with number 118 shown on the miniature belongs to that tradition. On the side window lettering, you can read the driver names O. Kriess, M. Lehmayer, M. Weissenfels, and T. Geipel. These kinds of entries make the Dacia Logan an interesting part of touring car and grassroots racing culture at the Nürburgring, where not only overall winners matter, but also class entries and special team concepts.

Dacia Logan in racing: endurance character, visibility, and known drivers

The success of the Dacia Logan in motorsport is less about big international titles and more about its steady presence and high recognition value on the Nordschleife. Cars like this were often noticed by fans and observers because, in a field full of GT3, TCR, and Cup cars, they bring a different technical approach. That’s what makes the Logan relevant in endurance racing: a simple base, individual development, and strong identification value in amateur and semi-pro racing. Drivers such as O. Kriess, M. Lehmayer, M. Weissenfels, and T. Geipel are examples of this kind of racing, where experience, understanding the car, and consistent lap times matter more than pure engine power. The miniature also refers directly to the 2023 Nürburgring 24-hour event and carries the text “DANKE MARSHALS” on the rear, which is a direct nod to the event and the track marshals. On the rear section, you can also read “DACIA vs. GOLIATH,” which really underlines the car’s unique identity at the event.

Livery, sponsors, and details of the 1/43 SPARK miniature

For collectors, the design of this miniature is especially important because it reproduces a lot of the real race car’s details in a small space. The livery combines blue and white in clearly separated sections. Blue graphic elements with technical symbols and stylized patterns run across the hood, roof, doors, and rear. On the front, you’ll find the race number 118, the TotalEnergies logo, the BLEKER AUTOTEILE lettering, and a yellow fish graphic for WEITZNASSERWELT. The windshield banner reads Gran Turismo. More sponsors appear on the sides, including FALKEN, MATOSO, KUMACO, mokoHex, Bastuck, Riedel, and sport auto. On the roof, you can see MOONLIGHT MARKETING and again BLEKER AUTOTEILE; on the rear window is REMUS. The green side mirrors create a strong contrast with the main color scheme. From the angles shown, the model’s shape looks spot on: flat front end, compact body, a clearly modeled rear wing, and nicely captured proportions of the Logan race car. On the left side of the base, the label reads “O. Kriess - M. Lehmayer - M. Weissenfels - T. Geilen,” and on the right side “Dacia Logan Nürburgring 24H 2023.” So the miniature documents not just the car itself, but also its event context. For collectors of Nürburgring, touring car, and Dacia models, this version stands out thanks to its detailed livery, resin construction, and the limited run of 126 of 300 pieces worldwide.
