Ford Focus RS as the second-generation reference

The real car behind this collectible model is the Ford Focus RS from the second generation (Mk2), with the regular Focus lineup being built from 2004 to 2011. The RS version hit the market in 2009 and stayed on sale until 2011. It followed the first Ford Focus RS from 2002 to 2003, which still used a 215 hp 2.0-liter turbo engine. For the Mk2, Ford went with a transversely mounted 2.5-liter inline five-cylinder turbo. That engine made 224 kW, or 305 hp, at 6,500 rpm, and peak torque was 440 Nm. Depending on the test method, the three-door hot hatch could do 0 to 100 km/h in about 5.9 seconds and had a top speed of around 263 km/h (163.4 mph). It was based on the Focus II platform, but the body, suspension, steering, and drivetrain were all heavily modified for the Ford Focus RS. The car was only available with a manual six-speed gearbox and front-wheel drive.

Tech, bodywork, and paintwork of the Ford Focus RS

A big technical highlight of the Ford Focus RS was the front axle with RevoKnuckle design. This suspension setup was meant to reduce steering pull under hard acceleration in powerful front-wheel-drive cars, without having to switch to a more complex double-wishbone setup. It was paired with a mechanical Quaife limited-slip differential, which helped split power between the front wheels when accelerating. Visually, the RS stood out from the regular Focus with flared fenders, a revised front bumper with a large lower air intake, side vents behind the front wheels, side skirts, and the big rear roof spoiler that stretches far back. The blue metallic paint on the model matches the Performance Blue color offered on the Ford Focus RS. In the photo, it has a medium metallic blue tone with fine light reflections. Black parts on the grille, mirror caps, rear diffuser area, and rear wing create a strong contrast. Up front, you can see the Ford oval and the RS badge; the rear also carries the brand logo and RS branding. The white multi-spoke wheels echo a contrast style often used on sporty cars, although the photos don’t let you reliably identify a specific wheel maker or wheel model.

Minichamps 1/43 model car from Walter1’s collection

The vehicle shown belongs to Modelly member “Walter1” and is a model car in 1/43 scale, made by Minichamps. The miniature sits on a black display base, and the label on the front names the Ford Focus RS and Performance Blue. It was made using diecast material, meaning a metal body with added plastic parts. In the photos, you can make out the fixed doors, separate roof antenna, black window surrounds, and the clear lights. The headlights have silver reflector inserts, and the fog lights are shown as dark round elements in the bumper. The grille, lower intake structure, and front wipers are nicely detailed. Inside, you can see seats, the dashboard area, and the steering wheel through the tinted windows. The model car in 1/43 scale was made by Minichamps and captures the three-door body style of the Ford Focus RS with its distinctive rear setup.

Limited 1/43 miniature with visible RS details

For collectors, the edition size is clearly stated: Limited edition – 1 of 1056 pieces worldwide. The front, rear three-quarter, and straight-on views show how the proportions of the Ford Focus RS were translated into the small format. What really stands out are the wide stance, the shaped wheel arches, and the high-cut lip of the large black roof spoiler. The rear section has vertical tail lights with red transparent sections, a rear window with a wiper, and a dark lower bumper. The exhaust tips and diffuser area are also recreated. The front and rear wheels sit neatly inside the widened fenders, and their white multi-spoke design is clearly separated from the black tire material. The visual impact of the miniature comes mainly from the mix of Performance Blue paint, black aerodynamic parts, white wheels, and the small RS badges. For a collection of Ford models, modern hot hatches, or limited diecast miniatures, this piece is a nicely documented version of the Ford Focus RS in 1/43 scale.
