The real-life car behind this collectible model is the third-generation Ford Focus ST, a performance-focused version of Ford’s compact car line. The Ford Focus III was built from 2010 to 2018; the third-generation Ford Focus ST shown here arrived in 2012 and was offered as a five-door hatchback and, in some markets, also as an estate. It followed the second-generation Ford Focus ST, which used a 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine. For the successor, Ford switched to a turbocharged four-cylinder. The design of the Ford Focus III was created under the direction of Martin Smith, who was then Executive Design Director at Ford Europe. The body follows Ford’s design language of the time, with a sharply sloped front end, glass that stretches far back, and an upward-sweeping side line. The third-generation Ford Focus ST stands out from the regular versions thanks to bumpers with larger air intakes, side skirts, a roof spoiler, dark alloy wheels, and ST badges.
In the gasoline version, the third-generation Ford Focus ST has a 2.0-liter EcoBoost inline-four with direct injection, a turbocharger, and variable valve timing. Output is 184 kW, or 250 PS, with a peak torque of 360 Nm. Power goes through a six-speed manual transmission and is sent only to the front wheels. Ford quoted a 0 to 100 km/h time of around 6.5 seconds (0 to 62 mph in around 6.5 seconds) and a top speed of 248 km/h (154 mph). The technical package includes a sport-tuned front axle with McPherson struts, a multi-link rear suspension, and Torque Vectoring Control. This system can selectively brake the inside front wheel in corners to help the car turn in. It also came with a three-stage stability control system and specially tuned steering. In Europe, there was later also a 2.0-liter TDCi diesel ST, but the yellow model here clearly points to the well-known EcoBoost gasoline version.
The model shown here from Modelly member “Walter1” is a 1/43 scale model car made by Minichamps. The miniature is made from diecast material, meaning the body is cast metal, with plastic parts used for the glazing, lights, mirrors, wheels, and other trim pieces. The model sits on a black display base and represents a five-door third-generation Ford Focus ST. You can see the four side doors with separately molded handles, the side mirrors, the black window frames, the dark interior, and the clearly defined glass areas. Up front, the trapezoidal grille, the small red ST badge in the grille, and the Ford oval are all nicely reproduced. The license plate inserts at the front and rear both read “Focus ST.” The five-spoke wheel design, the dark-painted rims, the treaded tires, and the red brake caliper areas capture the wheel setup of the real car in simplified 1/43 detail.
The body of this 1/43 model car from Minichamps is painted in an orange metallic shade that matches the “Tangerine Scream” color offered for the third-generation Ford Focus ST. In the photos, fine metallic flakes are visible, creating different bright reflections on the hood, roof, fenders, and door panels. There are no decorative stripes, so the shape details stay easy to see. The black-tinted windows, black wheels, dark lower front grille, and dark rear inserts create a strong contrast. At the front, the miniature has clear headlight lenses with hinted inner detailing; at the rear, you can see the large red taillights, rear wiper, roof-edge spoiler, and twin exhaust setup. The tailgate carries the Ford oval, the Focus badge, and the ST emblem. It’s really the mix of the orange body color, compact five-door shape, bold lights, and sharply molded bumpers that gives this diecast model in the Walter1 collection its clean, sporty look.
